About This Report

At around 120 pages, NBI/Michael Sone Associates’ Canadian Mobile Wireless Device and Network Equipment Market Report, 2004 Edition is the companion to our annual Canadian Mobile Wireless Communications Services Market Report. The reports remain the most comprehensive studies published on this industry examining in detail, for both the equipment and service segments, such topics as market size and growth, distribution strategies, pricing and technology issues and usage patterns. Section 1 of this report consists of a detailed executive summary that provides an overview of the industry in Canada as well as an analysis of the key elements that will define the future. Sections 2 through 4 are devoted to the handset, hybrid and non-voice and modem sectors with reference to the latest technologies. Prominence is given to detailed profiles of each major manufacturer with discussions on their activities, particular strategies and future plans as the industry moves toward the next generation (3G) of wireless communications. This is followed in Section 5 by discussions on the three main telematics players, while Section 6 rounds out the report with an update on the products and activities of the four major infrastructure manufacturers that service the Canadian market. Finally, Section 7 offers a footnote on the role wireless technology might play in helping address societal concerns surrounding its use.

Six exhibits provide shipment and installed base data for device manufacturers, including projections to 2006 and segmentation by technology, support the substantive and comprehensive discussion.
